April Events in Topeka



April 16, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Event Schedule

  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Fun Fair will take place in Garfield Park, with activity booths, food trucks, live music, vendor market, health fair, entertainment, Easter Bunny photos, kid's games and more! Health & Wellness demonstrations inside Garfield Gym and Bingo in Garfield Shelterhouse at the Vendor Market!

  • 10:45 a.m.: Egg Hunt starts right after parade! Kids can also go from booth to booth to gather eggs!

  • Noon, 1 and 2 p.m.: Cupcake Walks at the Gazebo!

The Family Fun Fair consists of activities geared toward children and families, as well as booths, exhibits, and other activities such as Easter crafts, children’s games, scavenger hunts, face painting, photo booth, baked goods, petting zoo, bounce houses and more. Admission and many activities will be free; some will have a cost.


Live performers will be on hand all day, including bands, dance troupes, fitness, martial arts, ballet & gymnastics demonstrations and more, performing inside Garfield Gym and outside in the park. Ted Ensley Gardens, April 8-24, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.


See 100,000 multi-colored tulips and spring flowering bulbs in three Topeka public gardens: Ted Ensley Gardens/Lake Shawnee, Doran Rock Garden/Gage Park and Old Prairie Town/Ward Meade Botanical Garden.


There are two special events in addition to regular self-guided tours through the gardens. Tulips at Twilight features larger than life lighted displays with thousands of tulips illuminated by candlelight and lighted displays. The displays include 15-foot tall, illuminated tulips and larger-than-life illuminated flowers, illuminated mushrooms tall enough for patrons to walk beneath them, rivers of blue lights and floating lanterns in the Asian garden. Tulips at Twilight is set for 7-10 p.m., April 8-24. Admission is a $5 donation with children 5 and under free.


Tulip Time Festival at the Lake is set for April 23 at Ted Ensley Gardens, Lake Shawnee. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., $5 donation for the day gains guest’s entry to the gardens, live musical performances, vendors and fun for the kids.

 

Saturdays, 7:30 a.m. to Noon


Since the 1930’s, every Saturday morning from April through November, the Downtown Topeka Farmers Market comes alive! Vibrant with color, lively chatter and friendly faces, the Downtown Topeka Farmers Market attracts hundreds of Topeka residents and out of town visitors each Saturday. Folks come to the open-air market each week to shop, browse and meet their friends and neighbors or find a new friend.

 

April Events in Lawrence



Come join us for an amazing evening of music, community and wine. AMA is proud to be able to throw this concert, which will be free to attend as part of our year-long 20th birthday party in 2022. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets if possible. Please do not bring any outside alcohol. Trivedi Wine will be donating 10% of their sales during this event to Americana Music Academy. BBQ Shack will bring their amazing food to keep everyone fed. Trivedi Wine, 1826 East 1150 Road, Quarter mile north of North 1800 Road on East 1150 Road, Lawrence, KS – April 23, 4 to 9 PM.

April Events in Kansas City


April 10, 2022, Gates open: 11 a.m.; Film Showtime: 11:30 a.m.; Egg Scramble: 1:30 p.m.


A family-friendly, spring outing at Children’s Mercy Park. We’re combining two of the most popular events to create an egg-citing day for all to enjoy. We’re kicking things off with a free showing of Peter Rabbit 2 (2021) in the Movies at the Park film series. After the show, kids ages 12 and under can participate in the annual Egg Scramble in the stadium for $20. Children will enjoy this egg-stra special egg hunt tailored for each age group, along with redeeming their eggs for prizes and an opportunity to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. Bring your own basket.


Movie Only: Free

Egg Scramble (Ages 12 & Under): $20 per child


Tickets must be reserved in advance. If you do not wish to participate in the Egg Scramble, select your seats for the movie and when checking out adjust the Movie and Easter Egg Scramble Ticket Type to zero and the Movie Ticket Type to the number of tickets you are claiming.

 

Planet Comicon Kansas City 2022, April 22-24

Planet Comicon Kansas City (PCKC) is the region’s largest annual comic book and pop culture convention and one of the largest in the US.

Friday: 1 to 8 PM, Sat: 10 AM to 7 PM, Sun: 10AM to 5 PM. Tickets are required.
