Sports
For those playing Fantasy Football, check out tips and discussion from the Fantasy Footballers! The Fantasy Footballers focus on a holistic approach to fantasy football expertise and advice. Fantasy football is more than stat sheets and excel docs… It’s about strategy, it’s about league formation and communication, it’s about trading strategies and draft day. It’s about winning the mental game, reading between the lines, finding the diamonds in the rough, and mocking your friends while you succeed.
Comedy
This podcast is for anyone who cares about what makes funny things funny! The host of this podcast interviews comedians about a specific joke and unpacks exactly what makes it funny and the process they took to make it as funny as possible. Official recommendation is to scroll through the docket of interview and start with whichever interviewed comedian is your favorite. For all of our analysts out there, this podcast breaks down the math, sounds and rhythm that makes a joke, a joke!
National Security
On this podcast, Former Acting Director of the Central Intelligence Agency Michael Morell interviews current and former leaders in national security and intelligence communities. Search for Tony Fauci for a 2018 interview where he describes his worst case scenario for a global pandemic. Another favorite episode is an early one with former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. Secretary Panetta was in the situation room for some watershed moments in recent U.S. History such as the raid of an al-Qaeda compound in Abottabad, Pakistan in May 2011 that resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden.
If you ever wondered if you have what it takes to be a spy, then you need to check out this podcast. Hayley Atwell narrates an eclectic mix of stories, told by the real spies behind some of the world’s greatest operations. What do they know? What are their skills? And what would YOU do in their position?
History
If you like a history epic, this is the podcast for you. Heads-up it is a verrrry long listen, but definitely worth it! Dan Carlin takes listeners beat by beat through watershed moments in world history. Only the most recent episodes are available for free, but it is worth diving into their archive to listen to the six-part series on World War 1. Another favorite series is on Genghis Khan. Warning that some of the scenes he describes are incredibly gruesome.
Music
Switched on Pop is a fun listen for all music lovers. This podcast is co-hosted by a musicologist and a professional songwriter. In each episode, they take one song and unpack the musical elements it contains. My recommendation is to scroll back to an artist or a song that you enjoy and listen to that episode first. It is interesting to hear experts unpack the technical components of their work. This podcast might be most enjoyable for those who have some existing background in music as their discussions can get technical.
