Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning there is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again. The 34th annual Homes for the Holidays on November 20, 10 A.M. to 4 P.M., will be your design inspiration to turn your own home into a winter wonderland. All proceeds support CASA of Shawnee County. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. It trains citizen volunteers to serve as advocates for children and youth caught up in the foster care and court systems. The Hip Hop Nutcracker - Lawrence
A holiday mash-up for the whole family. The Hip Hop Nutcracker directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber, is a contemporary dance spectacle set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless music presented on Nov. 30, 7 P.M., at the Lied Center of Kansas. A unique and joyful event, this production is performed by a supercharged cast of a dozen all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist and MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip-hop’s founding fathers, who opens the show with a short set.
