Peter's Baked Pears

Check out Peter's recipe for baked pears. They’re super easy, adaptable and delicious, and a riff on a recipe his mom made while he was growing up.


Ingredients:

  1. Pears

  2. Sugar (or honey)

  3. Cinnamon

  4. Nutmeg

  5. Butter or coconut oil

Preparation:

  • Preheat the oven to 3750 F and position baking rack to the center of the oven.

  • Clean, dry, halve, and core the pears. Remove a small sliver from the peal side of the pear (so that the pears stand upright,) and arrange peel-side down on a baking sheet.

  • Add a small slice of butter (or small dollop of coconut oil) to the center of each pear.


With sugar:

Mix ¼ C. Sugar with 1 tsp. cinnamon and ½ tsp. nutmeg and sprinkle generously over pears.


With honey:

Drizzle honey over pears, then sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.

· Bake for 30 minutes or until pears soften.

· Serve warm – especially good with Greek yogurt or whipped cream.
