A strategy from Wyatt discussed during the “IT Tips” meeting this week: Whether we are working remotely or in the office, we all likely run into menial and repetitive tasks we wish we could automate.
That’s where Power Automate from Microsoft comes in.
Power Automate allows you to create automated workflows between applications, files, and services. Using built in templates, you can easily create a number of flows that save you time, keep you informed, or otherwise make work life a little easier. You can access and create these flows within the Flow application in Teams, or via the Power Automate application in the Office Portal.
As an example, I’ve created a flow that automatically saves attachments into a OneDrive folder when I get an email from a KHI address. This allows me to skip the step of finding the correct email and downloading the file when I want to edit or share it.
While the possible flows that can be created are near limitless, some other templates include getting a push notification when you receive an email from a particular person, sending approval and follow up requests via email, receiving a notification when Form responses are received.
Lastly, flows can be created for personal use or built into a Teams site, and created flows can be shared via email.
