Nancy's Trip to Breckenridge
The McDonald siblings took a vacation to Breckenridge in mid-July. There are 7 of us, and initially only 5 of us were going to go on vacation. However, we were surprised by my sister, Barb, who is in between radiation and chemo and got her doctor’s OK to come for a relaxing time in the mountains.
We rented a large family home on the outskirts of Breckenridge way up high in the mountains and tried not to do too much as the goal was to relax and play games. The only children who came was my son Tyler (14) and my brother’s two kids (12 and 9) as all other cousins are out of college and married. They had a grand time shooting cans and other targets with BB’s off of the back deck.
We went rafting down the Arkansas river and my sister, Pat (in the front of the raft with me), became a floater! Luckily we were able to pick her back up and continue on down the river.
Our last night we were visited by a black bear at our front door who was trying to get inside the trash cans just outside. That was a little bit of a scare and thankfully we had the front door locked, but he quickly ran off. We had so much fun that next year’s sibling trip will be in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee which is where my sister-in-law is from.
