Staff Spotlight: Wen-Chieh Lin, Ph.D., Director of Research

What has been your favorite project?

There are many and most of them are related to understanding reasons for variations in access and outcomes among population subgroups or geographic areas. I hope we can get KanCare claims data ready for analysis soon. It will help investigate these variations among KanCare members and improve health care delivery.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

Every challenge is a lesson to learn, a chance to grow and an opportunity to succeed.

What do you do when you are not working?

Work, what else? 😊I enjoy watching my son’s soccer games and taking a long walk, particularly watching the foliage in this season.

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

See above! From top left: Chi-Su Cliff, Sa Kan Tan Creek, Si Tao Bridge, Gin Kua Shi Waterfalls and Taipei.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

I would love to have the power to “beam” to any places at any time, particularly through a wormhole.

What is one food that you cannot resist?

Life is too short to be limited by just one favorite food. I am thinking of a cinnamon roll with a cup of coffee now. Also, I’d love to have a Taiwanese bread from the Formosa bakery, falafel from Chebaro/Fresh Mediterranean Co. (curtesy of Samiyah), a bowl of pho and Korean chicken wings form Café Vie, a cold tofu plate with a miso soup, etc. Actually, a churro will make me smile all the time.
