What has been your favorite project?
I've never been very good with favorites, but if I had to choose right now I'd say the Rural Suicide project. I was really happy with how it turned out and I think it contributed to some important conversations across the state.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
To always be learning.
What do you do when you are not working?
I spend time with my lovely wife, Susan, and our onery-but-still-cute dog named Biscuit. I enjoy music, watching sports, reading spy novels, running, and whittling as hobbies.
Where’s your favorite place in the world?
This is a really difficult question. I've been happy lots of places and have wonderful memories of beautiful places from all of them. The honest and easy answer is wherever I'm with those I love and care about. If I had to choose a physical place - there's a little hill about a mile south of my hometown on a hunting/service path of the main road that I go to on runs. The wind blows through the wheat field on one side, blue skies shine above, and I can just make out wind turbines spinning 20 miles away on the horizon. It feels like Kansas, feels like home.
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
I think it'd be hard to complain with any of them, but the runner in me always thought it would be fun to be super-fast like Flash.
What is one food that you cannot resist?
Does coffee count? If not, I love almost anything with blueberries.
