As KHI prepares to launch its team discussion series, below are a couple resources to check out if you are interested in reading ahead! One is an article from NEJM and the other is a podcast from the NYT. You’ll notice from the modules posted in our Equity Learning Lab – Teams Site that we have access to many articles, podcasts, videos and other content selected by the RWJF Learning Lab partners. The approach of the KHI ELL Core team is to select only 2 or 3 resources from each module to allow for focused discussions, which will be scheduled in the near future.

Source: Nikole Hannah-Jones, Yaa Gyasi, and Jeneen Interlandi for the New York Times, as part of the 1619 Project. This podcast draws direct connections between the current state of our healthcare system and a history of policies influenced by racist ideologies. (40 minute listen) Those who prefer a written format can read the article version called, "Why doesn’t the United States have universal health care? The answer has everything to do with race".
