Incoming Mail
During this remote work period, mail will be held at the NW Gage post office during our office closure. JoDonna will pick it up twice a week and process it at the office. Please don’t have any packages sent to the office (e.g., Amazon or other shopping sites).
EFL Assoc. Selected for CEO Search
The announcement at khi.org has been updated with this information: The KHI Board has selected EFL Associates to conduct the search process for a new CEO. Inquiries can be directed to Mike Marden at mmarden@cbiz.com. Additionally, Bob said that EFL, a national firm headquartered in KC, MO, previously conducted executive searches for KLC, KHF, and a number of Kansas charities. Over the following weeks, they'll focus on creating a position description and begin identifying potential candidates in January.
KHI Honors Gianfranco in Virtual Retirement Program
On Wednesday, Jan. 5, KHI hosted a virtual retirement program honoring Gianfranco Pezzino, MD. Approximately 40 people from multiple regions across the U.S. attended the event to thank him for his service and wish him well. Gianfranco retired on Dec. 31. 2021, after nearly 18 years as a senior fellow at KHI. Before his retirement, he shared a reflective blog and joined the Communications team for a video interview. Terry Accepts New Challenge
After 10 years supporting the IT functions at KHI, Terry Decker has accepted a new challenge as Director of Technology/IT at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. We thank Terry for the tremendous work he has done for us over the years and wish him well in his new position!
KHI will be working with ISG, the technical support team that has worked with us in building our system over the last several years, to provide ongoing IT support after Terry’s departure on Friday, Jan. 14.
Topeka Community Foundation at KHI
The Topeka Community Foundation sponsored a convening in the KHI Learning Center on Dec. 14 to present a short series of informative lectures about the history of redlining across Topeka's municipal land use, development and housing policies. KHI’s Bob St. Peter attended the meeting alongside Kansas Health Foundation personnel, and local and community officials. Following the meeting at KHI, attendees took a tour of related locations Topeka.

Toys for Tots Giving Event
On Dec. 15, staff enjoyed a holiday lunch gathering while watching the snow fall outside the virtual window. The purpose was to collect newly purchased items for Toys for Tots. During the event, staff played a game called "Name the Carol Emoji." Emma and Wyatt tied for the most correct guesses. For the Toys for Tots initiative, employees brought in a wide variety of items for children of all age groups. The toys were picked up by the U.S. Marine Corps. Thank you very much to everyone who contributed to the cause!
