KHI has volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels on the third and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Pickup begins at 11 a.m., in the parking lot north of the Walmart Neighborhood Market, Macvicar Ave. The number of recipients varies, but most deliveries are made in one hour.
Volunteers who deliver meals play an important role in the community by reporting any health or environmental problems or crises that they may see during their visits. Participants who did not answer the door, as well as changes in conduct and/or environment, are included. If you would like to give your time to a worthy cause contact Michele Sumpter at msumpter@khi.org or ext. 6123.
Did You Know:
For each hour of personal time that an employee spends on performing community volunteer service, KHI will allocate, on an hour-for-hour basis, up to a maximum of eight hours of time per six-month period to community volunteer service. Use of volunteer time must be approved by the employee's supervisor in advance in the same way that other leave requests are processed.
